Metro I-405 Sepulveda Pass Widening

This $1-billion-plus Design-Build project, encompassing over 10 miles of major highway, involves the addition of a High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) commuter lane to the existing freeway corridor. The widening will occur between the Santa Monica Freeway (I-10) and the Ventura Freeway (US-101).

The project requires the replacement of three (3) major bridge overcrossing structures, the widening of thirteen (13) undercrossing structures, the installation of over eighty (80) retaining wall and sound wall structures, and other capacity enhancement and highway safety features. FHWA provides oversight for this project.

FPL is responsible for the design of freeway overhead and roadside signs, corridor-wide ramp metering system, ITS systems (temporary and permanent), highway and bridge lighting, sign illumination, electrical service (irrigation), City of Los Angeles and County of Los Angeles street lighting, traffic signals for 22 permanent intersections (plus 90 temporary signals), and City and County signing and striping for various street segments.
