1st Street Viaduct Widening over Los Angeles River - City of Los Angeles

The 1st Street Viaduct widening project was initiated by the City to mitigate the traffic impact caused by the Metro Eastside LRT by adding two additional lanes on the north side of the original bridge. FPL prepared the Traffic Impact Analysis to support the viaduct widening FEIR/FEIS document.

1st Street Viaduct Widening Girder Strengthening

Due to the fact that the Viaduct will be widened on the north side only, the new middle of the viaduct had to be strengthened to carry the LRT loading. FPL prepared worksite traffic control plans, detour plans and temporary signal plans. FPL’s work included coordination with the numerous construction stages of Eastside LRT’s construction traffic control.

1st Street Viaduct Widening Outside Widening

During the outside widening on the north side, FPL prepared worksite traffic control plans, detour plans and temporary signal plans to accommodate the LRT various stages from finishing construction to testing. FPL also provided design to resolve the electrical engineering issues during the bridge abutment construction where Metro Rail Yard electrical conduits and illumination were impacted.
